The AccelereX HD3800 PDA Vehicle Performance Test System (Dynamometer) from Handheld Design, Inc. is a state of the art platform suitable for a wide range of applications:

The HD3800 combines MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) sensor technology and GPS (Global Position System) technology with Microsoft Windows Mobile based handheld computer to create an advanced open test platform. Intel 624Mhz XScale CPU. 256MB Flash ROM, 64M SDRAM. Windows Mobile 2005 Operating System, including Mobile Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Media Player from Microsoft, as well as hundreds of free or commercial software. Large, Brilliant 3.7" Color TFT VGA Display and Accelerated Graphics. 640x480 resolution. Integrated 802.11b and Bluetooth wireless. One CompactFlash Type II expansion slot and one Secure Digital (SD) expansion slot. 3.5mm headphone/headset jack for headsets to support VoIP (Voice over IP) and voice recognition applications. 	Holux GPSlim236 Bluetooth GPS Receiver SiRF Star III Chipset. Wireless Bluetooth and serial connections. 20 parallel satellite-tracking. 1 second continuous update rate. Accuracy: 5 meter for position, 0.1 meter/s (0.22 miles/hour) for velocity. Removable and rechargeable Li-Ion battery for at least 10-hour operation per charge. 	CF+ 3-Axis Accelerometer from Handheld Design, Inc. CF+ (CompactFlash Plus) Type I form factor, plugged directly into the PDA's CF slot. Freescale (Motorola) 3-Axis acceleration sensor with selectable ranges of 1.5/2/4/6g. 12 bit analog-to-digital converter. Calibration data stored in the card's flash memory.
	Windshield PDA Mount 2-tier windshield PDA mount offering unparallel flexibility. Two adjustable tightening knobs and a swivel-head tightening nut for all the desired positioning. 	Handheld PerformerTM Software Takes acceleration in all three directions every 0.01 seconds, and GPS data every second. Advanced filter technology to best estimate acceleration in different vehicle and road conditions. Five operation modes: Acceleration (auto start), Acceleration (countdown start), Braking, Continuous and Installation (raw data). In Continuous mode, accurate speed and distance data from GPS are continuously displayed which can be used for purposes like calibrating the vehicle's speedometer. Display 1/4, 1/8 miles or any distance average G, time and speed. Zoom in and zoom out in both the time and value axes. User can measure the G, speed and distance between two arbitrary points. Unlike other dynamometers in the market which are basically a proprietary box with no much other use, in our solution all components can be individually replaced, upgraded or used for other purposes. For example, the software can be upgraded by simply downloading a new version from our web site, whereas for others you have to upgrade the firmware which in most cases requiring shipping the product back to the original manufacturer.
